What is Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day?
We’re asking people to get together in their fave festive knits for the day and donate £2 (£1 if you’re at nursery, school or a youth group) to Save the Children to help save children’s lives around the world. Christmas Jumper Day 2016 took place on Friday 16 December – and in 2017 we’ll be welcoming in the woolly wonder on Friday 15 December!
When is it?
Christmas Jumper Day 2016 took place on Friday 16 December 2016. This year it’s taking place on Friday 15 December (but if this date doesn’t work for you, feel free to do it whenever suits you best).
Can I do it at another time?
Yes! We encourage as many people as possible to organise their Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 16 December, but if you can’t make this date, please pop on your pullovers any time around Christmas.
Who can take part?
Everyone! We want to spread the jumper joy to offices, schools and homes around the country. So get your workplace, school, friends and family involved, and help us raise as much as we can to help transform children’s lives.
Do I need to be in a group?
No. Christmas Jumper Day is for everyone – individuals and groups. If you decide to go solo you can still have loads of fun, just make sure you tell everyone you meet why you’re wearing novelty knitwear and they might even make a donation.
How do I sign up?
Registrations for Christmas Jumper Day 2017 will open in the summer. It’ll be taking place on Friday 15 December – so make sure you save the date in your diary!
Do I have to buy a jumper?
No! If you don’t already have a woolly in your wardrobe, why not create your own crafty knit? Making your own jumper can be a very serious business – whether you tinsel up an ordinary pullover, go all out with sequins and snowmen, or even knit your own, we can’t wait to see what you create!
Can I raise more money than that?
Yes! We’re always totally inspired by the silly stuff people get up to in their woollies to raise more money- and help us save more lives. When will I get my fundraising pack?
Your pack should be with you within a week or two. If you haven’t received it call Jumper HQ on 0808 281 1031 and we’ll resend it for you.
Can I get extra fundraising materials?
Yes! Simply email Jumper HQ or call us on 0808 281 1031.
Can I get fundraising materials in Welsh?
Galli! All of our fundraising packs are available in Welsh. You’ll be able to download them along with our other resources when you register.
How will the money I raise help ?
The money you raise by wearing a woolly and donating to Save the Children will help give the world’s forgotten children a brighter future. Find out more.
What is a Team Text Code?
If you’re registering at work or home you can set up a team text code when you register. This will appear in your confirmation mail and is for you to share with everyone taking part. Anyone who sends your team text code to 70050 will donate £2 to your teams Christmas Jumper Day donations. Please note texts will be billed £2 plus the cost of a standard rate text cost. 100% of your donation will go to Save the Children.

Why can’t I see my donation on the Text to Donate Leaderboard?
The leaderboard will be live on our site from 7 December.

How do I pay in my money?
There are a few ways you can pay in your fundraising money; firstly, if you fundraise online the money will go straight to us. No need to count any cash! If you have collected money offline you can pay it in from the beginning on December either;
- Online – visit christmasjumperday.org – and you will be able to pay funds in online on our website.
- Through the bank – We’ve provided giro slips in your pack, you can deposit the money into a bank using your giro slip
- By cheque – alternatively you can write a cheque and send it to us using the freepost envelope along with your giro slip.
When do I have to pay in my fundraising by?
There’s no official deadline but please do try and get it to us as soon as possible after Christmas Jumper Day. The sooner we get it, the sooner we can put it to good use!
What if I’ve lost my GIRO slip?
To get a replacement slip, simply email email@example.com, or call Jumper HQ on 0808 281 1031.
